Rewards For Installing An Air Source Heat Pump.

To give an example of the savings and profit which can be achieved by investing in a Mitsubishi heat source heat pump are follows.

Example

Customer has an energy bill for gas of £100 a month. Which is £1200 a year. The renewable heat incentive (RHI) for an average 3 bedroom semi detached house will be approximately £6780 over 7 years. This payment is made by the energy companies to encourage customers to install a air source heat pump.

mitsubishi air source heat pump pump review

Also Mitsubishi has also an exclusive deal with the energy companies to pay the customer another £283 a year. This payment is for monitoring of the Mitsubishi air source heat pump performance. This payment is for seven years and is worth £1981.

So in total once a customer installs a Mitsubishi air source heat pump they will be eligible to receive a total of £8761 over the 7 years of the RHI payments. Also on top of this figure is the saving on the gas price which will be eliminated by installing this air source pump. On the example above if the system is big enough the savings will be £1200 a year. So over the 7 years the savings will be £8400.

mitsubishi air source heat pump pump review

So in total the savings over the 7 years will be;

RHI payments = £6780

Monitoring payment = £1981

Savings in gas bills over 7 years = £8400

Total saving = £17,161

The cost of fully installing a Mitsubishi air source heat pump and cylinder is £12,000.

£17,161 – £12,000 = £5,161 in profit after 7 years(including paying for the ASHP)

On top of this after the 7 year’s customers will still enjoy £1,200 a year for the remainder of the air source heat pump life. The life of the Mitsubishi system is at least 20 years.

13 Years X 1,200 pounds = 15,600 pounds saving.

Total savings after 20 years will be £20,761.

As you can see it makes perfect financial sense to invest in a Mitsubishi air source heat pump. Also you will be protecting yourself from the predicted 40 percent rise in gas prices.

The Mitsubishi Air Source Heat Pump sounds like the way to go in the UK. Sounds like you can drastically reduce your bill, on top of having it paid by the energy companies. That is a big encouragement all by itself. I don’t know what the pound converts to in a US dollar but the savings seems really, really good!

Wow, this is great news for folks living in the UK. If there’s advanced, energy saving technology for homes, I’m all for it. This looks like it can save you some serious money in the long run.

If it is true that the Mitsubishi air source heat pump only requires a maintenance frequency of once a year, then it is definitely a cost effective solution. Have you installed one yet? If yes, how’s the performance?

Great review!

So great to hear about this technology. I believe it’s imperative that we develop more similar sources for energy like this. Glad to hear it is so supported in the UK. Living in Canada I’m wondering if there is a supplier for these units here? Way to go for promoting renewable energy sources.

All the best in your endeavors!!!

HI Fortuna, What an amazing thing you have found. It would be wonderful if this was in the US, as a matter of fact this should and probably will eventually be available world wide.
It would be so great if we all could have such a system.
The only thing that I think might deter someone from installing a system such as this, might be the initial up front costs as for some it may be hard to raise the amount needed to purchase this system. I think that there might be a great advantage if there were some kind of partial payment program for those less financially able to implement this system don’t you.
It would be so amazing to have it in every home world wide. Very interesting.
I wish you luck in promoting this, I am sure you will do well.

Hi Wanda

Thank you so much for your comment and you are right a lot of people do not have the money up front to do this. How ever with the finance deals (loans) which are available, the monthly cost of the loan is lower than the savings from the fuel you don’t need to purchase as well as the incentive from the UK Government. So over all you can have a Mitsubishi air source heat pump installed and be in profit from month one. Hope this helped to answer your questions.

Thanks

Alan

Hi Matt’s Mum
Thank you for the comment and you are the right the incentives right now are amazing to use a Mitsubishi air source heat pump. To answer your question the latest one we installed will be in profit after 3 years and after 7 years the total will be over 8,000 pounds or in dollars over $10,000. The air source heat pump will continue to work for at least another 13 years after this. The savings in total will reach over 26,000 pounds or $31,000. So its a great way to make money and be free of the worry of ever increasing gas prices.

Hi Estevan

The Mitsubishi air source heat pump is certainly available in Canada as well as the U.S. I am not sure about incentives in your country but the benefits even without these incentives are worth while considering the environmental advantages.

Thank you so much for the comment.

Hi Farham

Yes we have installed a fair few by now and the performance is unreal. Engineers will tell you it is impossible to get an 300% efficiency. With the Mitsubishi air source heat pump this is exactly what we are finding. The reason being it takes 1 kw of electric to power the fan in the pump but we get 3 kw in heat energy to heat the water. So as you can see it truly is 300% efficient.

Thanks so much for the comment.

Regards

Alan

That is one of the great things I like about technology in knowing with every passing year improvements are made on equipment such as heat pumps.

The companies continuously work at improving the efficiency and recovering heat at colder temperatures which are fantastic.

What I like best about heat pumps is how well they work in the crossover periods from winter to spring and fall to winter where they can adapt so quickly with regulating your temperature where other systems have problems with wide temperature changes during these periods.

It also helps that from everyone I’ve talked to Mitsubishi is the best brand as you mentioned.

This is a very good review of the heat pump, nice and thorough. One thing that would be nice to see would be a plot of pressure versus enthalpy of the heat pump to see what exactly the process is going through. I see on there that you have it labeled as a 4 step cycle heat pump, does not have a reheat cycle? It seems like that would be a difficult efficiency to manage without a reheat cycle. Thanks!
